A Knit Your Stack product

Your business should not have to work around its software.

Made to Fit by Knit Your Stack helps owner-run businesses choose and implement the operating system that fits their work. The answer may be existing software, thoughtful configuration and connections, a bounded custom build, or no-go.

Plain answer: Made to Fit is the right path when spreadsheets, disconnected tools, or a misfit core system are shaping the work instead of supporting it.

The decision comes first

Use, configure, connect, build, or stop.

Systems discovery documents the current system of record, objects and states, roles, data, integrations, constraints, desired outcome, and evidence gaps before any implementation is proposed.

1

Use

Keep the current tool when it already covers the core work.

2

Configure

Improve fields, roles, rules, and reports before adding software.

3

Connect

Fix handoffs between sound systems without replacing them.

4

Build

Create a bounded system only when evidence supports it.

5

No-go

Say no or park the decision when cost, risk, or evidence does not work.

Potential custom-system scope

The parts an operating system may need.

This catalog is not a promise to build. Discovery determines which parts belong, whether existing software covers them, and where a custom component is justified.

Sell

Contacts, leads, follow-up, quoting, price books, and configurators.

Deliver

Jobs, work orders, capacity, routing, field capture, and change orders.

Supply

Inventory, purchasing, receiving, kits, assets, and maintenance.

Govern

Compliance records, training, document expiry, approvals, and exceptions.

See

Operational KPIs, a Monday report, and customer status or document portals.

What discovery establishes

A recommendation you can inspect.

  • Current system of record and its gaps.
  • Business objects, states, roles, and permissions.
  • Data sources, migration condition, and integration needs.
  • Existing-software, custom-build, and no-go options.
  • Known evidence, unknowns, risks, and recommendation.
  • A written use/configure, build, no-go, or park decision.

If a custom build is justified

Built to be operated, supported, and recoverable.

An approved build includes roles and permissions, an audit trail, migration reconciliation, integrations, training, monitoring, backups with restore tests, a cutover plan, and a named human support path. You own your data and configuration outright. The system integrates with, and never replaces, your accounting ledger.

Common questions

Made to Fit FAQ

Does Made to Fit always mean custom software?

No. Recommending existing software when it fits is part of the product. A build is proposed only when the evidence justifies it.

How do you choose between buying and building?

We compare the core object model, refused workarounds, process differentiation, software utilization and cost, user economics, shared spreadsheets, migration condition, and operational risk.

Can it replace our accounting system?

No. The accounting ledger remains in the client’s existing accounting platform. A Made to Fit system may integrate with it after appropriate review and approval.

What if discovery is inconclusive?

Unknowns park the decision. Insufficient evidence is not treated as permission to build.
